Season Five of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was set to air after season four, but season six (referred to as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward) was instead aired. The plan was to release season five straight to DVD, but it instead started to debut the episodes on Comcast On-Demand. Only the first five episodes were shown this way. The sixth episode was later shown on FOX as 'The Lost Episode.' The complete season was finally aired on FOX starting in February 2008.
An additional episode, titled Nightmares Recycled, had started production but was not finished. Although a script was written and some animation was produced, 4Kids ceased production on the episode due to being deemed too controversial for children. It would have taken place between Beginning of the End and Membership Drive.
