Plot Overview

Meet English teacher Jeff Cahill, an apathetic slacker who harbors a not-so-secret crush on noble-minded Alice Fletcher. At least until Tina Torres, the sexy new substitute history teacher, arrives and Jeff attempts to make Alice jealous by hitting on her. Things get complicated when Tina joins the staff as a full-time faculty member.

Meanwhile, drama teacher and Jeff's buddy Calvin Babbitt agrees to run for faculty chair against Alice, as part of veteran teacher Dick Green's plan to "get someone lazy and unmotivated" in the position.

• Jeff and Tina have a few drinks and end up at her place, but Jeff leaves before having sex with her because of his feelings for Alice.
• Alice and Calvin run for faculty chair, but the vote ends in a tie: 18 votes for each, and 1 vote (self-cast) for brown-noser Mitch.
