Origin?

Although the Amerian media talk of this as a Showtime series, the end credits distinctly say "AN IRELAND-CANADA CO-PRODUCTION". How does this qualify as "Origin: USA"? The credits mention the CBC and various production companies, but the name Showtime seems strangely absent, so their role in the development of the show isn't clear to me. —Naddy 22:18, 16 April 2007 (EDT)

It was produced by an Irish company and a Canadian company (TM Productions Limited and PA Tudors Inc. not sure which one is which) for the Showtime network. Showtime commissioned the show and it's airing there first so I'd say it's USA origin. There's probably tax break reasons for why they had to put that co-production bit in the credits.--The-jam 22:26, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
Okay there's a video podcast with the creator on Showtime's website and he talks about the process that went into the show coming about and apparently the American production company Reveille went to him and asked him to create the show. He talks about writing it with an American audience in mind and it's clearly meant to be a show for American TV first and foremost. --The-jam 22:34, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
