As far as I'm aware there is nowhere in canon where the family names of Kendra and Faith are given (and they are certainly always credited with family names) Vaguedisclaimer 19:44, 18 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Joss Whedon's upcoming book The Watcher Sourcebook has Faith and Kendra's last names as Lehane and Young. They're never revealed in the television show itself, but since this is coming from Joss in a book that is going to act as an Official Buffyverse Guide, and not another writer like Espenson or Noxon, it's canon. --Wizardryo 20:19, 18 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Joss explains here that it was chosen for a role playing game which required it. It is possible to get in a terrible bate about what's canon and I am inclined to the "if it's not on screen it's not canon" view (not least because otherwise would then have to treat all of Joss's many contradictory statements as canon :)). However I certainly think this should be noted on the page once it is created (and of course it could be revisited should Faith on a Motorbike ever become a reality).
