Set in an unidentified English city with a cathedral, Strange assumes that the Devil is real and works his evil through the help of demons who wander the earth in human guise and manifest into a different form only when performing supernatural deeds. John Strange is a defrocked priest who has dedicated his life to hunting down these demons. He is supported by Jude Atkins, a physicist by training who now works as a nurse. Strange's human nemesis is Canon Black, a church official who does his utmost to conceal the existence of demons from the world at large.
