Speed Buggy is an animated comedy that aired on CBS.
The Speed Buggs (as they were known in Hanna-Barbera publicity releases) are three kids--Mark, Debbie and Tinker--who participate in auto races, both on and off-track--and get mixed up in clandestine escapades with thieves and megalomaniacs. Tinker is the creator of Speed Buggy, an orange talking car that doesn't seek out trouble but once invloved, Speedy will take action to protect his friends. It's usually Debbie who sweet-talks Speedy into a situation he'd rather not be in.
Speed Buggy ran two seasons on CBS, followed by one on ABC, It showed up in the 1977-78 season as a mid-season replacement on NBC, and returned to CBS in fall of 1978 and again in 1982. Speed Buggy and Tinker were members of the Scooby Doobies team on 1977's Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics.
