Notes

Guests

  • Bob Denver - Bob Denver was a character actor who most notably played the title character of Gilligan's Island, Willie Gilligan. His career beyond Island, however, was limited at best and he was doomed to typecasting until his death on September 2, 2005.
  • Dawn Wells - Another actor who was resigned to typecasting following her run on Gilligan's Island, Dawn Wells played Mary Anne Summers. After acting on the series, Wells went on to write a cookbook keeping in line with the series and a line of clothing for people with limited mobility.
  • Russell Johnson - As Professor Roy Hinkley, Jr., Russell Johnson was the MacGyver of Gilligan's Island. He is one of the few cast members to not resent the series and its effect on his career following and does not take offense when people who recognize him refer to him as "Professor." Johnson wrote a memoir of his experiences called "Here on Gilligan's Isle."

Allusions and References

  • Gilligan's Island: When 5 people went on a tour with a bumbling first mate and the boat's skipper, they were lost at sea in a sudden storm. Eventually they washed up on an island where the series takes place. Gillian's Island was a sitcom that aired on CBS for 3 years. It's one of the most popular sitcoms of all time and was one of the few show to switch to color from monochromatic video and survive. This episode features three stars from the series and also opens with a scene from the Gilligan's Island episode, The Producer.
  • The Courtship of Eddie's Father: The show that Zorak starts his tribute to himself with is The Courtship of Eddie's Father, occasionally shortened to just "Courtship." The series was an offshoot of a movie of the same name released in 1963, starring Bill Bixby among others. The series aired for 3 years before being canceled due to a falling out between Bixby and James Komack. The segment shown in this episode comes from the Courtship episode, A Night Out for the Boys.
Zorak: Let me entertain you! Roll em! Mmmmm, classic Zorak! Me in "Courtship"...
