Southland is a crime drama that aired on NBC for one season, and on TNT for four more season.
NBC renewed the series for a 13 episode second season but a few weeks before it was set to debut the network announced they were canceling the series and would not air the six episodes already produced. TNT picked up the already produced episodes and began airing them in January 2010 starting with the already aired first season and then six unaired second season episodes. A few weeks after airing all produced episodes the network announced they were renewing the series for a ten episode third season to premiere in January 2011.
