Season Five of Sliders premiered on June 11, 1999. The final season began dramatically with the loss of the Mallory brothers. An evil scientist, Dr. Oberon Geiger, performs an interdimensional experiment; Colin becomes 'unstuck' - shifting around the multiverse uncontrollably - whilst Quinn is melded with the fraternal double of this world, dubbed "Mallory" by the remaining Sliders. Mallory agrees to travel with Rembrandt and Maggie along with Diana Davis, who hopes to able to split the two melded Quinns.

Meanwhile, the Sliders continue to visit alternate Earths in the hope that they will find a weapon to liberate Earth Prime from the rule of the Kromaggs, as well as trying to stop the work of Dr. Geiger that threatens to destroy the multiverse, and the appearance of a long-lost friend brings hope to Rembrandt. The season and series ends on a cliffhanger, with the fate of one of the Sliders and the Kromagg-ruled Earth Prime in question.
