Plot Overview

The Sliders arrive on a world where an asteroid is due to impact and end all life before they are due to leave. Professor Arturo teams up with his least favourite student, Conrad Bennish, to develop the atom bomb that was never realised on this Earth, whilst Rembrandt goes out to party and Quinn and Wade discuss their feelings for each other.

Notes

Brave New Worlds

• In addition to being in the path of an extinction-level asteroid, Albert Einstein lied about his findings during the development of the atomic bomb, apparently morally burdened by the potential consequences, and rigged the bomb not to explode during testing. This led to World War II lasting another five years.

The Show

• Mike Dobson also played a police officer in "Summer of Love". It's debatable that this is a double and is more likely just a coincidence in casting.

Behind the Scenes

• This was the sixth episode filmed.

• The photo of Quinn as a child was furbished by Jerry O'Connell's mother after the art department called and asked for pictures of him when he was younger. Jerry points out that the one used was the slimmest one of him they could find.

Memorable Moments

• The final scene in which Bennish, now with the schematics for the nuclear bomb and having expressed an authoritarian will about it, spins a globe and miming guns at it before the camera pans to a poster of Albert Einstein with his quote "God does not place dice with the universe."

Goofs

• The news anchor mentions the Union of Concerned Scientists. Later, Arturo refers to as the Union of Distinguished Scientists.

• Quinn gives Arturo his address despite Arturo having already been to Quinn's home twice before in the pilot.
