Plot Overview

Quinn attempts to right a wrong from his past by trying to fix the lives of the doubles of an old girlfriend, having mixed results in each world.

Notes

Brave New Worlds

  • Spain beat Europe in colonisation of the New Worlds and thus much of the North American continent, including San Francisco, is part of the country of Republica De Nueva España. In an ironic twist, Canadians are leaving their home country to find a better life by migrating south.
  • A near duplicate of Earth prime, but with minor differences such as San Francisco's football team being the Lions and it was Quinn who moved away while Daelin stayed.
  • While there are some historical changes, the most notable and obvious difference is that time's arrow moves in the reverse order than our and other universes seen. This gives the impression to outsiders of time moving backwards, although it is still moving as normal to everyone else native to that universe.
  • Too little is seen to pick up on any difference, as the only thing of note is a phone booth.

Doubles

  • Daelin Richards
  • Dennis McMillan
  • Quinn (mentioned only)
  • Gloria Sanchez
  • Judge Estavez

Timer

  • At least one day (likely more, but not specified)
  • A little over 7 hours
  • Difficult to discern, but appears to be at least 3 days
  • 3 days, 7 hours, 14 minutes

Trivia

The Show

  • Some of the material in the first world revolving around Canada and specifically Vancouver are in-jokes as the show's production was in Vancouver at the time.

Behind the Scenes

  • Was written as the sixth episode in the season and scheduled to air in the middle, but Fox chose to air it as the finale.

Allusions and References

Memorable Moments

  • After Quinn saves Daelin's life, Arturo directs everyone to the sky and we get a very surreal visual of the sky tearing open to reveal another Earth. After the moon revolves around it, that Earth then disappears.

Goofs

  • On the first world, there's a shot where you can see the light from the vortex moments before Quinn opens it.
  • On that same world, a guard bends down to help as Daelin holds her brother. It then cuts to Quinn as he leaves and then cuts back, but instead reuses the exact same footage of the guard bending down.
  • When we get a wide shot of the courtroom as time skips, you can see where the set ends on the left side of the screen, including someone moving normally while everyone aside from the four and the marshal are frozen at the moment.

Quotes

  • Dennis: Why you disrespecting me, bro? We're all in this together.
Arturo: I am not your sibling, sir, for which I thank God and good breeding.
  • Wade: I want to go home, Rembrandt. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in Canada.
Rembrandt: You think I do? It's wet, it's cold, my records didn't sell spit up there. All they ever listen to is Anne Murray and Gordon Lightfoot.
  • Arturo: We've gotten out of worse binds than this.
Wade: Not lately.
