Robin Hood is a fresh take on the classic legend of the 11th century outlaw. The series takes a lighthearted, often humorous look at the mythology of Robin Hood while at the same time reinterpreting many modern problems and issues in the historical setting of the legend. Most of the classic characters and settings are present but many aspects of the story have been updated for modern sensibilities; notably the female and Islamic characters are shown as equal to or even surpassing the English men in all respects. The series also makes many subtle and not so subtle references to modern pop culture and events which helps lighten the feel of some of the more depressing plots. Those looking for a serious realistic take on the legend will be disappointed by this series but those looking for a fun action/adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously will find much to like about this new Robin Hood.
