Richard Dysart is an American television/film/Broadway actor. He was born in Boston in 1929, and raised in Maine. He is best known for his portrayal of L.A. Law's Leland McKenzie, a role that earned him one Emmy Award and three more Emmy nominations. The scene where Leland was discovered in bed with enemy Rosalind Shays, (played by Diana Muldaur), was ranked as the 38th greatest moment in television in an issue of EGG magazine. Dysart was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law in 1990.
Richard Dysart played many character roles on Broadway and off-Broadway in the 60:s and 70:s. He is also known for his roles in movies such as "The Day of the Locust", "The Thing", "Malice in Wonderland", "Being There", "Pale Rider", "The Hospital", "Hard Rain" and "Prophecy".
