Previously

A previously is the montage of events that occurred in previous episodes that usually precede serial dramas.

Usually they begin with the voice of one of the characters saying either "Previously on ___" (for various episodes) or "Last time on ___" (for events of the previous episode).

For some shows, these are only included in original broadcasts and excised for subsequent web or DVD/Blu-ray releases. In the latter case, it may depend on the region. For example, they are cut from Region 1 releases of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but restored for the Region 2 version.
