Pretty Little Liars is a teen drama that aired on Freeform. The series concept was originally developed as a TV series for The WB in 2005 but when Alloy Entertainment couldn't get a pilot off the ground they contracted Sara Shepard to write a series of young adult novels around the concept. They continued to try to shop it as series until finally ABC Family ordered a pilot in 2008 and then ordered it to series in early 2010.
