Out of the Inkwell was a made-for-TV update of the Out of the Inkwell series created by Max Fleischer in the silent days of animated cartoons.
Hal Seeger, an animator under Fleischer, launched Out of the Inkwell, Inc. in 1958 to create the cartoons, which debuted in 1962. As with the original series, Fleischer himself would put pen to inkwell and draw out the star character, Koko the Clown. In this new series, Koko is joined by Kokette, Mean Moe, Kokonut, Kookie (his dog) and Irving the Indian.
Video House was the initial distributor. A year later they sold the cartoons to Seven Arts.
