Gretel was once a 12 year old girl from the Enchanted Forest, who together with her twin brother, Hansel get tangled up in one of Queen Regina's evil schemes when they go searching for their missing father in the woods. After the Queen unleashes a curse on the entire land, Gretel ends up in Storybrooke as an orphaned girl named Ava Zimmer.
