Plot Overview
The killer is a young woman who has nightmares about witnessing her sister's abduction as a child. The victim is her long-lost sister, whom she hired a private investigator to find. The crime occurred at a house under construction, where the victim was to have met up with her construction worker boyfriend. She was killed with a nail gun, the last two shots fatal wounds to her chest. Angie visits the family. the surviving sister and her mother, who's seriously ill with end-stage cirrhosis of the liver. The mother is from a rich family, and it initially appears that the murder victim was forging checks from the mother's account, but it turns out that the mother was giving her money. Angie and Stoker question the private detective and learn that the sister and her abductor, who was her father, were killed in an auto accident some time ago, and that the detective got a stripper to pose as the missing daughter. Now the question is, did the sister and the mother know that she was a phony? And if so, what was her end game? Those questions lead the team to the motive. Also, Angie and Jack have a discussion about the status of their relationship, and Oscar receives a visit from pesky Internal Affairs Sergeant Saunders, who has questions of his own about the dismissal of the witness from Betty's case.
