Plot Overview
The killer is a home care nurse working for a terminally ill rich lady. The victim is her son, a wayward sort who refuses to be self-sufficient. The team is summoned via a 911 call to the crime scene, where the victim appears to have been in an auto-erotic accident. Betty points out how the victim was chained to a chair and that he has bruising, indicating that he fought back against his strangler. The young man is declared brain-dead at the hospital, and eventually the killer enters his hospital room to finish him off. Angie and Oscar discover that the victim also had his identity stolen, but note that his credit was so poor that it's a mystery why someone would do that. Having eliminated money as a motive, they wonder why it was so important for the killer that his victim be brain-dead. Also, Samantha, Cross's Assistant D.A. girlfriend asks Angie to be a character witness for him, and Lucas, experiencing even more strain in his marriage, turns to Officer Sung.
