Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm is an animated action series that aired on USA. It was part of the USA Cartoon Express animation block along with Street Fighter, The Savage Dragon, and Wing Commander Academy, with all four shows having a crossover event on November 16.
The series is a loose sequel to the 1995 Mortal Kombat film while the plot is based largely taken from that of the game Mortal Kombat 3. In the show, Outworld forces have begun invading the Earthrealm, along with those from other realms, for which a team of warriors are tasked with defending Earth.
