MSNBC is a news cable network in the USA. It was launched on July 15, 1996 as partnership between General Electric's NBC and Microsoft. It was christened after it's owners brands, the Microsoft Network (MSN) and NBC. On December 23, 2005, NBC Universal announced the purchase of another 32% of the stake from Microsoft, leaving Microsoft's stake at 18%.
