On January 4, 2015, I will be shutting down the server that hosts The TV IV website. It has been a very long time since I've been able to put any decent amount of time into the site, and ad revenue is plummeting. I think it is time to shut it down or hand it off to someone who can keep it going properly. If you are interested in taking over the site's code and data, contact administrators at --CygnusTMtalk

Guest Stars: Tim O'Connor (Col. Spiker), Johnny Haymer (Sgt. Zale)

Plot Overview

Hawkeye saves the life of a colonel who wants him reprimanded for disrespect. B.J. tries to save the marriage of a friend who found out his wife is cheating on him, and Frank is paranoid that all Koreans are hiding or burying bombs.

Behind the Scenes

One of the enlisted men helping Frank to dig up a "bomb" proclaims, "Fresh Earth!" B.J. replies that he saw that film, with Paul Muni and Luise Rainer. The film to which he refers is actually titled The Good Earth (1937).

Allusions and References

The episode's title is a reference to the title of John Steinbeck's novel "Of Mice and Men".

B.J.: Hard day at the office?
Hawkeye: I put a colonel back together. I used the spare parts of two majors.
B.J.: Good thinking.
Hawkeye: You?
B.J.: Nothing today. Set Sergeant Zale's hand yesterday. Got a "Dear John" from his wife and tried to go ten rounds with the mess tent stove.
