Trivia

The Show

  • This episode was originally filmed in 1971 as an unsold pilot called New Family in Town. While Paramount Television, which produced the pilot, initially passed on making it a series, it decided to instead make the pilot an episode of Love, American Style under the title "Love and the Television Set", which it originally aired as in its appearances on ABC before being renamed as "Love and the Happy Days", its best-known title, in syndicated reruns after Happy Days, which developed from this episode, became a success for ABC

Behind the Scenes

  • Harold Gould, who played Howard Cunningham in this episode, was pegged to reprise that role when Happy Days went to series, but he was unavailable to return due to appearing in a play overseas, so the role went to Tom Bosley when production began in 1973
