Stanley Belmont, who works at a local bus company in its lost-and-found department, uses that job to support his family, including his overbearing mother Iris, his sister Olive and her husband Arthur, an unemployed slacker and moocher who is content to freeload off of Stanley, much to the latter's chagrin. Stanley's best friend Bummy, a driver with the bus company, often gets together with Stanley during lunch breaks to come up with ways to solve Stanley's domestic and financial issues.
