From The TV IV
Local programming are shows the local affiliate of a television network purchases or produces to fill time not scheduled by their parent networks. Examples include infomercials, episodes of off-network or first-run syndicated shows and programs produced by the station that cater to local interests, such as public affairs shows and live sports telecasts.
