Plot Overview
The detectives investigate the attack of a local councilman & former bagman who is mugged and has his throat slashed; Greevey & Logan catch two young black suspects for the crime, but later discover that the victim was involved in organized crime which uncovers a corruption scandal.
Notes
After a six-week trial, all three defendants were found guilty of begin accessories before the fact and solicitation of murder. They are free on their own recognizance while their convictions are being appealed.
Although inspired by an actual corruption scandal, this story is entirely fictional and does not portray any person or event associated with that scandal.

Behind the Scenes
- "Everybody's Favorite Bagman" was produced as a pilot for CBS in 1988. NBC picked up the show in 1990 and aired this episode as the sixth instead of the first. Important differences: shot on 16mm film to get a grainy, aged look; Roy Thinnes as DA Wentworth instead of Steven Hill as DA Schiff; Max and Mike appear to be meeting Paul for the first time (due to when it was shot) although they'd worked with him before (due to when it aired).
