KVTV began in December 1973 as a satellite of KZTV in Corpus Christi. On July 23, 2008, KVTV and sister station KZTV was sold to SagamoreHill Broadcasting, although SagamoreHill already owns NBC affiliate KGNS-TV; thus, KVTV remains being owned by the Eagle Creek Broadcasting of Texas.
