KIEM-TV is an NBC affiliate in Eureka, California. It broadcasts on digital channel 3, displayed as virtual 3. It is a duopoly with CBS affiliate KVIQ-LD/channel 14.
KIEM-TV first signed on the air on October 25, 1953 affiliated with all four networks, CBS, NBC, ABC, and DuMont. The station dropped NBC in 1954 as a secondary affiliate, dropped DuMont in 1955, and dropped ABC in 1987 in favor of KAEF. In 1984, the station switched from CBS to NBC.
It started digital transmissions on RF 16 in 2004, moving to RF 3 in 2009. Owners Pollack/Belz sold KIEM to Lost Coast Broadcasting in 2017, who then assigned the license to Redwood Television Partners, a subsidiary of Northwest Broadcasting (which has a sale to Cox Media Group pending).
