Jonny Quest (1964)/At a Glance
Renowned comic book illustrator Doug Wildey concieved the idea of an animated adventure series based on the previous radio show, "Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy". He was heavily influenced by the comic stip, "Terry and the Pirates" and the recent James Bond film, "Dr. No". He took the idea to Hanna Barbera, but (due to copyright problems) the concept was changed to the all new format of "Jonny Quest". The original promotional clip that Wildey pitched to Hanna Barbera (a sequence in which Zulu warriors chase a hovercraft carrying a man and a red-headed boy into a jet plane, forcing it to take off with spears bouncing off the door) is incorporated into the end credits of the show, though these images do not appear in any episode, proper.
