Joanne Lees: Murder in the Outback (simply titled Murder in the Outback in the UK) dramatizes the real-life disappearance of Peter Falconio and the subsequent murder trial of Bradley Murdoch from the point of view of Falconio's girlfriend Joanne Lees.

While traveling through the Australian outback, two British backpackers, Falconio and Lees, are attacked by a stranger. Lees manages to escape, but faces unsympathetic police and media in both Australia and the UK. When a suspect is apprehended, the eventual trial proves difficult.
