Notes

• During the Chosin Reservoir Campaign, the First Marine Division, under the command of General Oliver P. Smith, fought against overwhelming odds. Only the courage and determination of the Marines in the face of bitter cold and savage hand-to-hand fighting prevented their annihilation. It was one of the Marine Corps' finest hours.
