ION Television is a United States broadcast and cable network. Prior to September 25, 2005, the network was known as PAX TV, then as i: Independent Television until January 29, 2007.

Originally ION, as was the case with PAX and i, was a network devoted to family oriented programming but beginning with the 2008-2009 season they began programming general interest syndicated programming. In Fall 2009 they began broadcasting first run foreign series and on April 18, 2010 ION Television began to broadcast their first original program The Emeril Lagasse Show. However, PAX and i had some successful original series before such as Doc and Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye. They do not allow their owned-and-operated stations to run syndicated programming and instead run infomercials and religious programming during the time slots not reserved for network programming (stations not owned by the network, but which merely affiliate with ION however, have more freedom in their scheduling, pre-empting some of ION's schedule to air more local and syndicated programming). In the past, this has resulted in the stations which carry ION running infomercials the majority of the time. They also run programs from qubo, which also aired the same programs on NBC and Telemundo. Before long, Ion (like My Network TV) reclassified themselves as a television syndication service as opposed to being a network.

Recently announced is that Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway firm is putting up $600 million in cash for broadcast company E.W. Scripps to buy Ion Media. Before the FCC would approve this purchase, Scripps would have to divest stations to come within ownership caps. The purchase was finalized January 7, 2021, making Ion Media a Scripps subsidiary. 23 Ion stations were sold to INYO Broadcasting, based in Salt Lake City. As part of the acquisition, Scripps will discontinue subchannels qubo, Ion Plus and Ion Shop and slowly add subchannels from their Katz Broadcasting subsidiary (Laff, Bounce, Court TV).
