Plot Overview
A recent series of rape-murders bears similarity to killings committed in Vietnam some 20 years before, but the suspect in the original case is locked up in a mental health facility. Molenski's ability to focus on the case is hampered when memories of a childhood tragedy are evoked--she and her friend, both aged 14, snuck out of the house to go to a movie, but were followed by a mysterious car on the way home. The two were separated, resulting in her friend being brutally raped and killed.
