Plot Overview
A man parachutes outside Stalog 13. Hogan and his men attempt to grab him and bring him back in their tunnel. They are unable to when the guards led by Schultz are fast closing in. Forced to leave, Hogan and his men return to Stalog 13 through the tunnel. The man for whom they couldn't bring back with them is named Sir Charles Chitterly, a British noble who had parachuted into Germany to discuss a surrender treaty with Hitler. When he is taken to Klink's office to tell him to call Hitler and tell him that Sir Charles Chitterly has arrived. Obviously this Sir Charles was expected. Only Klink and Hogan, who was listening on the secret microphone, didn't know about Sir Charles's visit. As Hogan and his men listen in, Klink calls Berlin and is informed by an envoy of Hitler to extend Sir Charles every courtesy. Klink does just that. He has Schultz take Sir Charles to his special quarters. Hogan does not know why this Sir Charles has come to Stalog 13, but he rightly feels that whatever the purpose, it it isn't a good one. Hogan is at a lost as to how to handle this matter with Sir Charles. That is until LeBeau mentions that Sir Charles bears a striking resemblance to Colonel Crittendon (without the glasses and goatee). With this, Hogan plans to switch Sir Charles with Crittendon. First, he will send two of his men to Stalog 12 to spring Crittendon. They succeed. Hogan lays the plan to Crittendon to take Sir Charles's place and to find out what his purpose in Germany is. Through his clever manoeuvring, Hogan manages to take Sir Charles into the tunnel by way of the secret Stove entrance. Crittendon, as Sir Charles, enters in his place and will find out what the purpose details. Hogan will soon find an unexpected ally in his plan to derail Sir Charles's plan.
Notes
Bernard Fox, who has the dual roles of Crittendon and Sir Charles Chitterly, is the third regular/semi-regular member of the cast to play two character on the same episode.
