Generation Kill is a seven-part military drama miniseries which aired on HBO. It is based on the award winning book by journalist Evan Wright. The series like the book portrays the Marines of the First Recon Battalion during the first 40 days of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It was written and executive produced by the team behind The Wire including David Simon and Ed Burns. Several of the real-life Marines depicted served as consultants during the making of the series.
