Galactica 1980 is a sci-fi drama that aired on ABC.

Galactica 1980 was ABC's attempt to bring back Battlestar Galactica after it was canceled in 1979. However, due to series stars Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict not being able to come back, the writers fast forwarded the story to 30 years after the events of the original series, with Apollo being dead (as confirmed in the novel of the pilot episode "Galactica Discovers Earth") and Starbuck missing and presumed dead. Lorne Greene and Herb Jefferson, Jr. were the only cast from the first season to return, though Dirk Benedict did return for the final episode "The Return of Starbuck".

Like Battlestar Galactica, Galactica 1980 was a ratings hit with the first episode, however the ratings quickly dropped when the show was placed in the Sunday at 7PM time slot, a time where TV shows had to have an educational lesson, so many of the episodes involved Troy (a now grown up Boxey) and Dillon and the Super Scouts (children sent to live on Earth after the Cylons attacked the Rag Tag Fleet) learning about baseball, farming, and the environment.
