Plot Overview

Meg's birthday is coming up, and she asks her parents' permission to have a birthday party. She becomes outraged after realizing they don't know how old she is (17, a fact that Meg was sure Peter and Lois would know but didn't). The party is more suited for children, with pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and Peter coming to the party dressed as "Pee Pants the Inebriated Hobo Clown." Peter's act doesn't go very well, vomiting over a pile of scarfs he pulled from his mouth (before throwing it into Meg's arms). After getting drunk, Peter tries to ride a unicycle down the stairs, but loses control and after falling over the bannister, lands on top of Francis, crusing his ribs and tearing his spleen. At the hospital, a comatose Francis briefly awakens and snarls at Peter, "You're a fat, stinking drunk!" Francis quickly loses consciousness and dies.

Peter mopes around the house, haunted by the cruel final words his father told him; Lois sides with Francis, agreeing that Peter does drink too much. Peter turns to crack, but Brian intervenes, telling him he needs counseling to cope with causing his father's death. During hynotherapy, Peter realizes that Francis is not his biological father. Peter demands the truth, and Thelma admits she had an affair 40 years earlier with a man that now lives in Ireland.

To help bring closure to his ordeal, Brian travels with Peter to a village in Ireland to find Peter's real father. They discover Peter's father is Mickey McFinnigan, the town drunk. In this village, being the town drunk is an honorable distinction bestowed by the locals (rather than the usual mark of shame elsewhere). Peter wins a drinking challenge with Mickey, and Mickey realizes that Peter is his biological son, since only a member of his family could beat him at drinking.

Subplot

During Meg's party, Stewie begins ripping apart Meg's presents and when he refuses to stop, Lois sends him away. Later, Stewie claims everything in the house as his home, and when he refuses to obey an order to stop, Lois spanks him. At first traumatized by the spanking, Stewie realizes he enjoys getting spanked by his mother and the accompanying adrenaline rush. But Lois refuses to give in to Stewie's hopes that further misbehavior will mean more spankings.
