Plot Overview
The Catholic church in Quahog advertises for a new organist. Lois auditions for and wins the job, and this prompts her to persuade the rest of the family to attend church with her on Sundays. Things go well until Stewie is taken to the altar during Communion; even though he is too young to engage in the sacremental rite, he grabs a sample of the wine and promptly throws up. The congregation refuses to accept the situation for what it is - a baby getting sick when he drinks wine, which his body can't physologically accept - and instead strictly abide by their Catholic beliefs and declare Stewie as being possessed by the devil (Catholics believe that because the wine is the blood of Jesus Christ, Satan would reject it).
The priest wants to perform an excorcism on Stewie, but the Griffins object. When the entire town begins harassing the family (following mass coverage by the Quahog 5 News), the family decides their only recourse is to flee to Texas, and Lois' sister's home. They arrive safely, but only after some close calls:
- At a remote gas station, Peter nearly stupidly reveals to a highway patrolman who they are
- An on-the-road flirtation with a voloptuous blonde, who is killed in a head-on crash caused by her taking her eyes off the road to sexually coax Peter. Afterward, Lois non-chalantly remarks, “You marry Billy Joel, it's going to happen one way or another!"
The Griffins fit in with their new neighbors, with Peter joining a group of cowboys and engaging in typical male chauvanistic behavior. Brian is uncomfortable with the stereotypical behavior by the group, however.
Later, Lois watches the news and learns that Quahog has given up its search for the Griffins (searching for a new "Superdevil"), but Lois withholds her knowledge from the rest of the family, who engage in the following:
- Meg and Chris are invited to join an after-school group, but must pass an initiation test, whereby the two must steal a pair of underwear worn by President George W. Bush. Although they get past the guard (Vice President Dick Cheney), they are caught trespassing by President Bush; however, he lets them have what they came for.
- Stewie disguises himself as "Stephanie Griffin" and enters a "Little Miss Texan" childhood pageant.
Things begin to unravel for the Griffins when Brian learns from Jillian that the search for Stewie has been called off, Peter accidentally lets slip that he is mentally retarded and Stewie's wig falls off after winning the pageant. The Griffins get some unexpected help from Gilbert Gottfried (as a horse) and escape back to Quahog.
Once back home, Lois relates the moral: That family values come from within and not by where you live. In another jab at the Parents Television Council, Peter breaks the fourth wall by finishing the moral, claiming that viewers should not take values from watching television and urging responsibility onto parents.

Allusions and References
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus and The Seinfeld Curse - A characature of the former Seinfeld star pitches her "latest sitcom," "Now It's Just Getting Sad," where she co-stars alongside an elephant who tells chiched jokes.
- National Lampoon's Family Vacation — During their drive to Texas, Peter has an on-the-road flirtatious encounter with a beautiful young woman in a red Ferrari, similar to that between Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and a voluptuous blonde (Christie Brinkley) in the 1983 movie. Unlike the original movie - Clark managed to avoid a collision after being distracted - this gag ends with the woman crashing her car into an oncoming semitrailer truck due to her inattention to the road, and presumably dying in the resulting fiery collision.
- Organ gags - The following gags occur in the organist tryout scene:
- Victor Borge - Jake Tucker plays an incoherent musical passage until he turns the sheet music upside down, then correctly plays the "William Tell Overture," a reference to the comedian's recurring gag.
- Jerry Lee Lewis - Seamus plays "Great Balls of Fire."
- The Waitresses - Herbert performs "I Know What Boys Like," a minor hit single by the 1980s all-female new wave group.
- JonBenét Ramsey - Stewie makes a vulgar comment about how child beauty pageants could result in eventually being found dead in the basement after being raped, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the child prodigy who was found dead at her parents' home in 1996.
- Sixteen Candles - Chris and Meg conspire to steal the underwear of George W. Bush from his Texas ranch, all to show off to their friends and satisfy a bet, much like Anthony Michael Hall's character did Molly Ringwald's in the 1984 coming-of-age movie.
