FLCL (Japanese フリクリ Furi Kuri, pronounced in English as Fooly Cooly) is a six episode Original Video Animation series. It is a creation of Japanese film director Kazuya Tsurumaki of Gainax, KGI and released by Production I.G.. The true definition of "Fooly cooly" is not known nor made clear throughout the series. FLCL is a 'far out there' story of a boy named Naota who gets sideswiped by a strange girl on a Vespa wielding a modified left handed Rickenbacker 4003 bass guitar. Soon after his encounter, Naota begins to notice strange protrusions from his head, which eventually sprout robots. With his older brother's girlfriend following him around, and all these strange things happening, what’s a kid to do? Especially when the psycho guitar swinging girl ends up working for his father.
