Plot Overview

Senior paramedic Roy DeSoto talks young Johnny Gage into trying out for the paramedic program, while facing their opponent, Dr. Kelly Brackett, Rampart's Chief of Emergency Services, who flies to Sacramento, in hopes of getting the legislation pass, thanks to his best buddy/partner, Ms. Dixie McCall, Rampart's Chief Nurse of the Emergency Room, who's also the mentor and mother figure to Johnny and Roy, after he was opposed to this. She also gets injured and is knocked unconscious, after running a couple separate calls with the boys.

The Show

Behind the Scenes

  • Before the series started, Robert Fuller met singer/songwriter, Julie London, when he stopped in for a beer at her club in Los Angeles, California, in 1955, after he returned from the Army. They embarked on a lifelong friendship (with her husband Bobby Troup), ending with her 2000 death. She worked with him in an episode of the second season of "Laramie," where she played the card dealer.
  • Long before the show started, Randolph Mantooth was an avid, lifelong Julie London fan, by listening to her music.
