ESPN Classic was founded in 1995 as the Classic Sports Network, it was later purchased and renamed by ESPN in 1997. ESPN Classic specializes in showing classic games, sports documentaries, and classic sports movies. Lately though, ESPN Classic has been known to show poker games, bass fishing, and many other non-mainstream events due the founding of networks like NFL Network and NBA TV. The reason this is happening is because classic sports games are property of the sports league or leagues. Many sports leagues are now deciding to switch to create their own networks in an attempt to save money and to gain attention.
