From The TV IV
Drake & Josh is a teen sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon. It follows the adventures of two polar-opposite teenaged boys—cool, handsome, rock star Drake Parker and nerdy, high-strung, awkward Josh Peck—who become stepbrothers when their parents marry each other. The characters had previously appeared on The Amanda Show and proved popular enough to warrant their own series. Although marketed for "tweenagers" (children aged ten to 14), the show has experienced success with adults due to its charming familiarity. At a time when the traditional multi-camera family sitcom seems all but dead on network television, Drake & Josh has been described as a refreshing throwback with classic, resolvable conflict-based scenarios, sharp dialogue and two likeable leads whose chemistry and interplay is often reminiscent of such classic comedy duos as Abbott & Costello or Martin & Lewis. (In fact, series stars Drake Bell and Josh Peck—Peck in particular—have expressed admiration for and inspiration from the latter duo.)
Shortly into production of the fourth season, on December 30, 2005, Bell was involved in a car accident which injured his jaw and delayed production. Fortunately, he had a speedy recovery, and the season premiered in September 2006.
