  • After the Borad is sent through the Kontron tunnel, which leads to Earth (and the Highlands of Scotland, near Inverness) in the 12th century, the Doctor notes that he'll have "somewhere to swim for the next thousand year." When Peri wonders if he'll be spotted, the Doctor replies, "from time to time." This clearly implies that the Borad may be responsible for sightings of the Loch Ness Monster.
  • It's revealed that Herbert, the young man the Doctor and Vena encounter and pick up in 1885 Scotland, is revealed to be none other than science fiction author H.G. Wells.
