Basic Information

The Tenth Doctor is widely one of many new Whovian's favorites. His good-looks and bubbly personality make him favorable for fans. The Tenth Doctor often shows an appreciation for pop culture. In his first full episode, "The Christmas Invasion", he was speaking to an alien race when he unintentionally quoted The Lion King. In another episode, "The Shakespeare Code", he mentions the Back to the Future trilogy as an example for what was going on to his companion, Martha. The Doctor wears a long brown trench coat over either a blue pinstriped suit or a brown suit. Along with the suit and coat, he wears a tie and Converse AllStars. His eyes are brown, as is his hair. There is no set style for his hair, though it is always spiky and messy.

Character History

The Ninth Doctor regenerated inside the TARDIS after only one season. He joined the War Doctor and his future 11th self in The Day of the Doctor saving Gallifrey in the Time War. It has been disclosed that the thirteenth Doctor will regenerate back to the tenth Doctor for three special shows in 2023 leading up to the series' 60th anniversary and the BBC's 100th.

Memorable Moments

In "Day of the Doctor," Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (the daughter of Brigadier Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart) confronts a Zygon who has taken on her appearance. A self-destruct mechanism has been activated, and as Doctors 10 and 11 arrive, they casually refuse to intervene, knowing that Lethridge-Stewart and her Zygon clone both realize what's at stake. With five seconds left, both Lethbridge-Stewart and the Zygon clone cancel the self-destruct. The Doctors then consign them to formally draft an arms treaty between the two races.

Trivia

David Tennant was the voice of Tree Fu Tom in the children's series of the same name. He was joined by another Who alumnus, Sophie Aldred who played Ace along side Sylvester McCoy's Doctor #7.

Quotes

  • Doctor: Look at these people. Look at their potential. When they first step onto the planet, blinking, step into the sun, there's more to see than can ever be seen. More to do than-- hang on...sorry, that's The Lion King.
  • Donna: I'm not about to let some Martian ruin my wedding day!
Doctor:I-I...I'm not from Mars...
  • Martha: Wait! Is it safe to go out?
Doctor: What? Of course it's safe!
Martha: But what if I, like...kill my grandfather?
Doctor: Are you planning to?
Martha: No...
Doctor: Good!
Martha: But you know what they say! Step on a butterfly, you change the course of the human race!
Doctor: Don't...step on any butterflies then. What have butterflies ever done to you?
