The Doctor has just regenerated and fallen into a healing coma. Meanwhile the Sycorax, a group of unfriendly aliens attracted by a satellite sent towards Mars, are on their way to conquer Earth. Their plan involves blood control, gained by a sample in the satellite. The Doctor foils their plot and challenges their leader to a duel. The Doctor wins and sends the Sycorax on their way. However, Harriet Jones, now Prime Minister, uses the Torchwood Institute to destroy the Sycorax ship in the sky above London. The Doctor disapproves and instills diffidence in her abilities.

• Rose: Help me, Doctor! (The Doctor sits up, sonic screwdriver in hand.)

• The Doctor: It was being controlled but—(jumping up)—who's controlling it?

• The Doctor: (writhes in pain) I'm having a neural implosion, I'm still regenerating, I'm bursting with energy, the pilot fish could smell it and they want to get rid of the army—thats you—and get to me, run their batteries off me for a few years. (Writhes again hand in pocket pulls out an apple) Argh ... Why is there an apple in my dressing gown?
  Jackie: Oh, it's Howard.
  The Doctor: Keeps apples in his dressing gown. (Jackie nods) Why?
  Jackie: He gets hungry.
  The Doctor: In bed?
  Jackie: Sometimes.

• Llewellyn: Guinevere One contained one of those plaques, it had music, grass, minerals, water, food and blood, A+ . The Sycorax have a vial of A+ blood and it's all my fault.

• Harriet Jones: This is the Prime Minister speaking, Not the Queen's speech, I'm afraid that's been canceled, Do we know about the royal family? (pauses) Oh, they're on the roof, too.

• Rose: Someone's got to be the Doctor.

• The Doctor: Did you miss me?

• The Doctor: Just can't get the staff.

• The Doctor: Am I Ginger?

• The Doctor: Cup of tea, that's all I needed, cup of tea. And you, Rose Tyler, you gave up on me.

• The Doctor: Am I a loser, a fighter, a traitor, sexy (raises eyebrows toward Rose)... and judging by the evidence I've certainly got a gob.

• The Doctor: Blood control ... blood control! Aww, I haven't seen this in years.
