Origin Germany

Die Sendung mit der Maus (The Show with the Mouse) is a half-hour children's program in Germany.

The show consists of five parts:

  • Two "Sachgeschichten" (stories about things) where technology, nature or workflows are explained (for example: Why are there holes in cheese?; How does the Internet work?).
  • Two "Lachgeschichten" (stories to laugh at), which are cartoons with a short story or a song.
  • "Käpt'n Blaubär" (Captain Bluebear) which is a popular puppet sequence, where "Käpt'n Blaubär" tells stories about his adventures around the world, which are mostly untrue.

In between each part, there are short (30–45 seconds) cartoons with an orange mouse, a blue elephant and a yellow duck, who are the mascots of the show.

Each show starts with an overview of the five parts, narrated in German. Afterwards the overview is repeated in a foreign language.

Although the show is aimed at children, it is hugely popular across all ages.
