Rex Van De Kamp, husband of Bree and father to Andrew and Danielle. He is played by Steven Culp.

We are introduced to Rex, at the wake of Mary Alice Young . He died in the first season he died, of a chemical inblance caused by taking the wrong medication. George, his pharmisist, switched his meds. George was jealous that Bree, who almost divorced Rex, didn't chose him over Rex. Rex died the last episode of the first season, but appeared in flashbacks in Remember, in the second season.

A scene in which Bree wants Rex to test their son's urine for drugs. Rex says that he wouldn't "ruin their son's future because he sparked a duby". Bree pours the urine all over Rex's shirt.

  • Steven Culp almost didn't play Rex Van De Kamp. Culp was creator Mark Cherry's first pick for Rex, but Culp couldn't play him at the time. Michael Reilly Burke was cast. He didn't test well with audiences, and Cherry asked Culp again and he was at that time able to play him.
  • Rex Van De Kamp took the role of narrator, much like that of Mary Alice Young, for season 3, episode 16 My Husband, the Pig.
