Dempsey and Makepeace is a crime drama featuring the unlikely duo of a streetwise New York City cop and his British partner from an aristocratic family. When police corruption endangers Lieutenant Dempsey's life, he is transferred to the British police in London, where he is partnered with blue-blooded Sergeant Harriet Makepeace. Dempsey's gung ho investigation style sits ill with his British colleagues, in particular his exasperated new boss, Chief Superintendant Spikings.
