Episode 265 is the sixty-fourth episode of the second season of Deal or No Deal, and the one hundred third episode overall.

Gameplay

• Opening contestant Julie Lanero, a victim of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, opened with a flourish, keeping all the mega amounts in play for the first round and earning a $61,000 first offer. She continued to have good luck through the third round, her offer peaking at $136,000. Then, disaster strikes in rounds 4 and 5, eliminating — in order — $1 million, $750,000, $200,000 and $500,000. She never recovered, and her deals kept getting smaller and smaller.

With $1 and $5 left on the board, she declined both a $3 final offer and a chance to switch cases. She ended up winning $1, becoming the series' smallest winner to date. Despite her rotten luck, some members of the online game show community lauded her for her sportsmanship.

• James Berkley still has $100,000 on the table after four rounds of his game, which will carry over to the May 14 episode. He rejected a $12,000 offer as time expired.

Notes

• Contestant Julie Lanero became the first contestant to win $1, making her the contestant with the smallest winnings to date.
• Despite Lanero's poor finish, Clorox donated $100,000 to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund.
• A special edition of Deal or No Deal aired May 4 (three days before the airing of this episode) on The Oprah Winfrey Show, with guest Mandel playing a scaled-down version of the game with Oprah; she was playing for a yet-to-be-named audience member. The top prize of $100,000 was wiped out on the first pick, but Oprah kept the top remaining prize — $75,000 — in play the rest of the way.

The game ended after eight rounds, where with two cases left (either $5,000 or $75,000), Oprah elected to stay with her case. The case held $5,000, but the game didn't end on this low note. In the post-game, Oprah selected at random an audience member to give her prize to. The lucky winner was Valerie Young, who was then told she had won $100,000!
