Gameplay

  • Kimberly Chastang, a newlywed, was surprised by Howie's card which invited her to the game with a top prize of $4,000,000. The top seven for this game were: $100,000, $250,000, $500,000, $750,000, $1,000,000, $2,000,000, $4,000,000. With the first and third prizes in play down to the final six cases, it would be like any other day on DonD were it not for the fact that those prizes were $1 million and $4 million. The banker, after holding back his offers for a while, was forced to finally pony up: Not only was the fifth offer a record jump (the previous offer was $176,000), but the offer itself broke the newly set record: $701,000! One more case would send the mean of the cases remaining over $1M, but at the urging of her family, Kimberly took the $701,000 offer. Two small cases raised the hypothetical to its second-highest point ever: $1,248,000! Although the $4 million case dropped out (the first grand prize ever in case 5), Kimberly would have had a second chance at seven figures, because not only was the $1,000,000 still in play, it was in her case.
  • Jeff Huerta was fooled into thinking that NBC had stopped the Big Money Week, before Howie revealed he was indeed playing for $5 million. Of course, the game didn't last very long before the hour was up; nothing over $100,000 was eliminated during the first round of play.
